Cloud Point and Simulate

Hi,

It is normal that it takes about 30 minutes to open a 7gb cloud points on Navisworks Simulate 2013?  I think we have better results with Navisworks Manage 2013.

We have a Z420 E5 Xeon, 32gb RAM, SSD, NVidia Quadro K4000 3gb.

Thank you!

Simulate 2013 and Manage 2013 should be equal in the field of loading files.
The only way I know to speed up things is to open the Cloud once, then save the cloud as an NWD file.
Next time you need the cloud, you can append the NWD file.
When the point cloud changes you may have to do this again, but Clouds are not edited a lot so that is manageble

This can also depend on the type of point cloud.  If its PTS or similar XYZ ASCII format there are culling options which can be adjusted to import every 1 in ____ points.  Importing all points in a 7 GB file would take a lot longer than 1 in 10, and longer still than 1 in 50.

I found my answer.  Simulate 2014 and 2015 is really much better than 2013!  30 minutes to open an 7gb with 2013 and 3.5 minutes with 2015!
