Can NavisWorks read SmartPlant 3D(.vue)?

Will Navisworks be able to view SmartPlant 3D(.vue) files anytime soon?

NW will open DRI's quite nicely (including display sets), push the SP3D into SmartPlant Review and save the DRI.

You must be talking about PDS. SmartPlant can't save to DRI.

SmartPlant which? "SmartPlant is the name of a family of products that include SP 3D, SP Review, SP P&ID, SP Foundation, SP Instrumentation, SP Electrical, etc.

SmartPlant Review can open SmartPlant 3D files and then create DRI files. We do it every day.

hi there,

As far as i know,

SP3D can produce Vue file , no other formats. right.

SPR can open VUE or Dri file....but since no dri generated from SP3D so only VUE can be opened in SPR.

In SPR the SAVE AS functionality can only save as VUE file & cannot save as DRI file.

VUE file is not supported by Navisworks.

May i seek your advice on how you do it??

SP3D can output DGN, but it is not organized , no properties, one color...useless. Edited by: intratech on Mar 12, 2010 10:13 AM

There is also a product called SmartPlant Review Publisher,
which can do conversion jobs on a sceduled manner.
But I do not know if it can convert a VUE file into something NavisWorks can read.

SP3D generates xml file while generating Vue file. This xml file is nothing but information of all the data , attributes which SP3D stores.  Someone has tried importing this xml into Navisworks?????

I have created animation for SP3D Plant Model with using Navisworks.  Creating dgn files from sp3d model and then importing dgn into Navisworks. It worked really smooth for me. For creating animation i dont require model data attributes information. This way you can use the naviswork for atleast making good animation. Smiley Indifferent

The good news there is an intelligent smartplant 3d interface available for navisworks Incl plant hierarchy, equipment nozzles, object attributes and geometry. You can review, publish and check clashes with other design data. Further you can publish a 3d PDF as well with unitec's 3D PDF enhancement for navisworks. For further details contact Unitec.de

Is there any progress in this matter? We have to open .vue files from our contractors and we consider that Navisworks will be prefered way. But only DRI (Old Intergraph) can be imported in Navisworks.

Can't read.
However we have a product "3D APPS Exchange" that converts to Navisworks
NWC/ DWF/ 3DXML.
The workflow is -
1. SmartPlant Review Export 3D-PDF,
2. 3D Apps Exchange convert it to NWC/DWF/3DXML, the model tree and
metadata is rebuilt as same as SP3D.

Please visit one of this.

We have the solution for that purpose.

3D Apps Exchange can convert 3D PDF from SmartPlant Review.

1. SP Review load VUE then export 3D PDF

2. 3D Apps Exchange rebuild the hierarchy and metadata, grouping elements then converts to NWC

It supports 3 output formats

- NWC for a serious Navisworker

- 3D DWF for Synchro 4D simulation

- 3DXML for Enovia PLM solution

It was requested by INPEX and SHI(Samsung Heavy Industries).

SHI use SmartMarine3D for HULL, AVEVA PDMS for Topside. they wanted to view all in Navisworks.

I would say it is a "Persuasive Technology"

for more information please visit www.eDesignReview.com or www.Intra.co.kr

or contact me directly.

And as already mentioned Unitec.de has a plug in for SP3D that can automatically (overnight) save the 3D model into DGN files with DRV data, that can be read by Naviswoks

What would be the projected release date , Roger?

Message 18 of 27

Any updates on this? does NW already has plug ins for VUE files?

Message 19 of 27

The VUE Viewing project is alive and well on Autodesk Labs. A new version was just posted and many improvements and fixes have been made.

Go to labs.autodesk.com and register, sign in, download and install the VUE file loader technology preview and provide feedback on the project forum there. There is also downloadable documentation there which you'll want to review.

Regards.

Roger

Our new solution for Intergraph SP3D is Direct Database Expoter.

this solution is 50x~100x faster than SmartPlant3D VUE file extraction.

it is designed for huge model conversion to Navisworks NWC,  Dassault Systemes V6 and Unity3D.

it has NWC conversion, Daily change list (added/deleted/modified) for change update in downstream workflow and incremental update for Dassault.

If interested, please contact me.
