BIM and Building Control

Please could you help me locate some information on how BIM incorporates Building Control or regulations into the system or software?

How do you insure a design meets current Building Control standards?

the web is full of information on what BIM is all about and the UK government is pushing for implementation by 2016, but I'm struggling to get to grips with how the issue of building regulations are addressed and how does this system reduce or eliminate the risk of failure?

For example the designer or Architect was responsible for checking his design met current local regulations, but with BIM is this done automatically and is it similar to the clash detection program. where you as the designer set the parameters.
