Application does not start, no error message, no startup screen.

Hello Forum Viewers,

I just wanted to post some information on an issue I have seen pop up here and there.

Basically, you double-click the application icon for a Network installation and Navisworks never starts. There is no onscreen error or crash, nothing. If you were to look at the task manager, you would see the Roamer.exe module start up and then vanish after a few seconds.

If you uninstalled and reinstalled the application to correct, it likely did not help.

This has been tied to a corruption in the Cascadeinfo.cas file. This is a file that holds information on your licensing. If you delete this file, it may help (a new one will be built when you start the application).

The Cascadeinfo.cas  file is located in one of 2 places:

Windows XP:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Autodesk\Adlm

Windows Vista and Windows 7:

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Adlm

Delete the file and start the application.

I will open a support case for this as well, but wanted to comment here.

What if the user is getting a Roamer.exe error and when you go to check and delete cascadeinfo.cas the file does not exist?

- Uninstall/Install = Failed

- No cascadeinfo.cas file is being created, exists to delete

- Renamed AppData folders to re-create = Failed

robertdiefenderfer,

Hello. Yes! I worked on this earlier today and we solved the issue directly. Basically, there was some corrupt Navisworks file connected to the use profile.

We uninstalled the application and deleted the basic residual folders. The folder most important folder, I believe, was /Users/Username/AppData/Roaming/Autodesk/NAVMAN. We deleted this folder in addition to the basic Navisworks folders.

Next, we reinstalled, but we made sure to install to a different system directory. Not the default installation path. After this, we verified the application started up properly.

Hi,

We have been trying the Folder Delete solution for Navisworks crashing problem and it sovles the issue for some days or say for a month, but for teh same user in the same workstation it reappears and we need to do the same activity again and again.

We are using AutoDesk Navisworks Simulate 2011. This issue is being faced by almost 5-6 brand types of workstation/Desktops with various types of configuration.

Is there any permanent solution for this problem?

Regards,

Vyenkatesh

I too am having issue with AutoCad LT in the startup process.  When the desktop icon is double clicked, the initialization screen shows and the progress bar indicates the normal startup process but then seems to open for a split second (can visually see screen expand) but disappears.
