ACAD MEP Pipes Not Showing Correctly in Navisworks Manage 2009

When I am working in MEP 2011 or 2008 (my company uses both) I am routing 4", 6", and 8" pipes using the Basic 2-Line display. When I NWCOUT to NW, my 4" line comes in as a single line instead of double-line. Why is that??? Is there a setting in Navisworks I am not selecting??

Please advise!

Thank you!

Hello. There could be a few different things at work here. First, you are trying to use MEP 2011 with Navisworks 2009. You need to make sure that the MEP files are in the proper format. Navisworks 2009 cannot read 2010 or 2011 DWG files.

Next, for Navisworks 2009, you need to make sure you have the object enablers installed. There are 2 for this year and they need to be installed in the following order.

AutoCAD Architecture 2009 Object Enabler

 AutoCAD MEP 2009 Object Enabler

 http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=11279152&linkID=9240618

After you install these object enablers, you need to check your DWG loader year

1.)   Open Navisworks and select Tools > Global Options > File Readers > DWG/DXF/SAT.

2.)   Set the DWG Loader version to 2009.

3.)   Close Navisworks.

4.)   Delete any NWC files associated with your model

5.)   Load the model

6.)   Click View > Scene Statistics and look to see if you have any object enabler messages. If you do, repeat steps 1-6 with a different loader year.

If you already have the object enablers installed from a prior installation, you may want to uninstall them and reinstall to ensure they are loaded in the proper order.

Lastly, there may be a view setting in MEP that is affecting the way your pipes display. When you export in MEP, make sure you are in a 3d view and check to make sure you have not told MEP to display your pipes as lines.

You should check your Piping Definitions

1.)   In MEP, access the Pipe workspace.

2.)   Click Manage > Style manager > Piping System Definitions.

3.)   Select your associated piping system.

4.)   Access the associated “Single Line Graphics” tab.

5.)   There are 2 checkboxes to display as “single line”, or “graphical 1-line” display, if your pipes are equal or less than a set threshold. Change the threshold or uncheck the boxes.

Thank you David for your assistance. We've decided to change or System Def's.

Thanks again!
