Store model item in document database

Dear all,

I want to store selected model items in Navisworks file so that I can reselect them after reopening the model.

Is it possible to store them in documenet database so that I can retieve them later?

Or any work around?

Hi John,

the model object cannot be stored with database. but you can save some unique ID/attribute of the model item. And use Search API to retrieve them back.

I see. That is what we are using at this moment.

I am a bit confused on the difference between SQL server database and Navisworks Database.

Is there any advantages on Naviswokrs Database over the SQL one?

Hi John,

Navisworks database actually derives from the SQL database, but much lighter. this database is embedded with Navisworks document. it could be looked a way to store extendable data. While using SQL database, you will need to manage the relationship of document and database.
