Navisworks Timeliner Data source import from Primavera .XER file

Dear All, I'm wondering if Navisworks timeliner can import tasks from the Primavera .XER file directly as this can help users that do not have primavera installed on their machines.

I tried to make it myself, to introduce this new timeliner datasource using the Timeliner API. But I couldn't reach a solution.

Please help me. I need the steps how to make the new datasource and if possible clarify with an example.

I use VB.net and I tried the following:

1- created a new addinplugin

2- and a new class that inherits from the data source provider class

3- override all the functions, methods, and properties that vb.net told me to override.

4- then I build the application and started navisworks manage 2012, but I saw nothing is added to the timeliner data sources.

Thanks a lot

Sameh Yehia

It's not currently possible to do this. You may want to try using CSV from Primavera but you will lose the hierarchy.

You could write your own data source for this but this is a task you would need to do through the API and we recommend you join ADN for additional support on this. I have moved this to the API forum to ask for additional feedback.

Thanks a lot for your reply.

Please check the following link as I used its concepts to derive my idea.

Kindly, tell me if there is something unclear to me or to my understanding.

Thanks a lot
