Confusing Navisworks Api not licensed error

btmsoftware

Hi there,

I deployed Navisworks Manage and Simulate, both 2017. They are both fully licensed.

I then deployed the API SDK 2017

Using Visual Studio 2015, I launch the SDIViewer example and I get this error thrown.

This is quite confusing. What's up with that? Do I need to purchase a separate SDK licence or something like that

TIA

Francois

Hi Francois,

Unfortunately, this is a known issue (NW-52880).  The fix will be in the SP1, which is expected to be available later this summer.

Sorry for the inconvenience this is causing.

Thanx for the information.

Any chance we could get a hotfix before the service pack release ? we have customers waiting for our software and we can't release....

Hi Francois,

I understand.  Could you send me the business case?  I will send you a separate e-mail from ADN DevHelp Support system with the template.

Navisworks team has tight resource right now. So no promise.  But let try to raise voice without assuming it's not possible.

Hi Mikado,

No rush anymore. I have been talking to our customers and the idea was that they were going to upgrade their current Navisworks installations from 2015 and 1016 to 2017 and take the opportunity to get our software on board.

I explained the situation and since we also support 2015 and 2016, they're happy to wait for the service pack instead of getting something rush (and we all know in this business that it's when you rush to fix something that you break something else, don't we ? Smiley Happy)

For customers already using 2017, we'll just have to explain that they need to wait a bit. It's the summer break so that should help them be patient...

Thanx for the help anyways, much appreciated

Hi Francois,

Okay.  Thank you very much for the update, and for nicely talking with the customer.

Is there by any chance a pre-release of said SP? I am having the same issue and developing around a shortcoming in the VUE plugin for 2017, I cannot revert to 2016 while in development.

Hi thmeils,

I will ask the product team just in case.  Historically, however, they did not do.  I will let you know if I hear otherwise.

Are there any news on this issue? We are getting awfully close to six months of failing functionality.

Hi thniels,

It should be fixed in SP1.   Note: Autodesk change to subscription model now. Updates are accessible through your accounts.autodesk.com

Hi Jay,

SP1 or Update 1 was released last year through accouonts.autodesk.com.   We have a few partners saying it was fixed.

You are not able to using SDI Viewer?   or it is some other workflow?

One thought is that you are using Simulate.  We are using Manage.   I would think both should be fixed.  My team does not have Simulate installed at hand.  they are trying to get a copy now to confirm.

In a mean time, if somebody in the community who has Simulate can confirm, we would appreciate it.

Update.  My colleague tell me it works with Simulate.

My apologies for the late reply. Yes, "Update 1" does indeed fix the issue. We have much too many installations to be able to use personal accounts, thus we didn't see the update.

The update fixes the licensing problem and everything is great, except the VUE Plugin that started the problem in the first place doesn't work with the API :-). That is another issue for another rainy day.

Thank you for confirming!

(and yes, please make a separate post for another problem.)

I've seen that Autodesk become really big corporation, as one Autodesk step on the same rake again 🙂

Hi,

I have similar problem with Navisworks Manage 2020

I have run WPFViewer example and I got error "Navisworks Api not licensed"

I get this error even for my other projects that were working before this situation.

I'm using Visiual Studio 2019 Professional and I have Navisworks licence.

Can you help me? This issue is stopping all my work.
