What is the difference between Autodesk Nastran and Autodesk Nastran In-CAD?

Could you briefly share what is the difference between Nastran and Nastran In-CAD? What sort of reports can Nastran In-CAD generate?

Hi Tim,

Autodesk Nastran is a standalone solution while Autodesk Nastran In-CAD works within CAD software like Inventor and SolidWorks.  

The reports are the same layout and workflow to create for both products.  I created a test report for you to review.  Let us know if you have any questions.

A few more questions;

1. Does this application also analyse parts in SI units?
2. Does NASTRAN IN-CAD solve assemblies?
3. Does its reporting functions allow us to format the report to include other details such as; Customer Name, Project Name, Job No. etc?

Hi Tim,

Yes to the first two questions.  About question three, you can add a lot of details to the report.  When the report generator comes up you will walk through a series of questions.  Here are the screen shots from the report wizard in order.

Looks good except that the dialog for the cover pages should have some user fields.

looked true the report.

It raised a few questions.

How do we add the company logo in the Cover page? As possible in Inventor Professional. How do we add our own pictures to the report?

This has some spelling errors in it that should be corrected.

I agree more areas of user entry and or modification fields would be great.

There needs to be better control of the image sizing, etc

A way to plot or output to a pdf with ability to control and/or size the output text, images is very much needed.  Utilizing this current output method results in very unprofessional looking reports.
