Auto tangents F curves Preference gone

Hi,

I Finally got around using the new MB after comming from MB 2012.

A thing i instantly noticed  is that tangents aren't set to auto tangents any more but to smooth clamped ; and that the option for setting your default method of interpolation has been removed from the preferences?!

This is so frustrating ... I now have to check every key before i plot, so nothing starts to overschoot on its own!

Motion builder 2012

Motion builder 2015

Could someone enlighten me why this has changed and how i re-enable the auto tangents as my default key?

Thanks Tristan.

Hi Tristan,

I suggest you to have a look at the config file <User>.Application.txt  in the directory "My Documents\MB\2015-x64\config"

There is a section called "FCurve", there you can find a parameter like "DefaultKeyingMode". I don't have much time to check if that is really what you are looking for, so just a note where the config is... hope that helps.

Allright, it worked!

As you discribed the Application.txt file had that parameter, you do need to make sure your program is closed before you change anything.

Set the DefaultKeyingMode to 'Auto' where it says 'SmoothClamp'.

'Clamp' was stated in MB 2012, but that didnt work i think; auto did.

Cheers Tristan

I think this might be broken again in MotionBuilder 2015, I assume it will update the 'Type' dropdown in the Key Controls, but changing this doesn't seem to do anything when setting in the Application.txt

[Fcurve]

...

DefaultKeyingMode = Lin ; Default key type used when the application start

....

Setting to:

DefaultKeyingMode = Auto ; Default key type used when the application start

The Key controls still startups up with Linear as the default...

Anyone else finding this?
