Mesh Techniques

Which option should be used for better meshing for both Dual Domain and 3D model? Any technique which gives better mesh quality?

The recommendation is to use default settings.

If you need more than 10 layers for 3D meshes, surface edge length should be smaller than default.

If you see rough surface mesh in areas with high curvature, eg. cylinders, you can define smaller edge length or apply chord angle on corresponding faces by Define Mesh Density dialog (Mesh -> Density). It is not recommended to turn on Chord angle on CAD tab of mesh UI, otherwise chord angle control will be applied to all faces unexpectedly.

Hi Sanjay,

some additional comments to ad to @xusho:

The edge length should be such as the geometry thickness is well captured, meaning for flow analysis at least 3 elements along the thickness/feature to capture thickness and a geometry change. This can give a huge number of elements, if many small features and thickness changes.
If going to 3D tetra mesh the rule of thumb is an edge length of 1-2 times the thickness.
This could be a good starting point for a Dual Domain mesh as well.

You can set local mesh density on cad geometry (not a stl) before meshing (Define Mesh Density),
and this will be considered when doing the meshing.

You can also do a remesh of areas after general meshing, using Mesh Tools, Remesh Area.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Berndt
