Vertex color bug?

I use vertex colors quite often. I paint or manually assign colors, and sometimes I want to darken/brighten the multiple at the same time.

Then, i would use 'add color/Subtract color' option with color set to dark grey and Alpha at '0' (or only use rgb without alpha)

This works in most cases, but randomly I get this bug when I re-open the scene.

Alpha is set to '1' , but it's black. When I export this to fbx for game engine, color is lost and comes out grey.

At this point, I can't really get this back to correct 'opaque' alpa 1.

Has anyone seen this or have a workaround for it?

Seems to be a bug in maya yes. You can work around the problem by deleting the objects construction history.

Hi!

I had the same problem and struggled a day to find out what was going on.

This is not a bug, but a part of a feature called Color Management.

You can disable it in Settings > Color Management.

After disabling it will work as intended.

Hello!

Could you please describe where to find these "Settings -> Color Management"? I am using 2013 maybe its not in there...

I am having a similar problem: I wish to export to FBX a vertex-colored object, however, the colors don't show up in other applications, such as Windows Paint 3D, etc.

I've tried both of the suggestions above to no avail!

Please help!

Thank you!

Hi!

Have you made sure you don’t have multiple color sets in the Color Set Editor? In order to find it, select your object and navigate to (Modeling menu set) Mesh Display > Color Set Editor.

If you have multiple sets only the first set might show in another 3d viewer after export.

Thank you -- I will try this. Now I have a second issue -- I chopped off
portions of a previously finished, colored model. Now, I can't change
the color of the faces on the model at all. Any idea why this might be
happening?

Thank you --

Jane

Hi,

I only have one colorset; i.e. just one item in the Color Set Editor,
"colorSet1(RGBA).  How can I make the colors be FBX-exported with my
object and be on the object as it looks in Maya?

Thanks,
Jane
