Units increase (Chamfer, Extrude,...aso) is not working

Hello,

I´m new to 3ds max (come from C4D) and have a problem increasing the units f. e. for chamfer amount or extrude amount or other units when I open the Chamfer Settings over the button of the context menu (caddy). It´s not possible to increase the unit amount with the arrow buttons. It stops at 0,01 cm and don´t let me go above. Otherwise when I click with the left mouse button and move my mouse, then it will increase, but it´s not possible to make linear units.

The same problem, when I set a linear amount by typing in f. e. 0,2. It goes back to 0.0. When I type in 1,6 cm it goes back to 1,0 cm.

Maybe I have some false preference settings, but I can´t find any unit setup except the units setup. Here I have all on centimeters for the display unit scale and also for the system unit setup.

Can someone help me?

My 3ds Max version: 2017 - 19.0 SP 1

Check if Spinner Snap is enabled.

(Right-Click icon to get the the preferences and look for Spinnsers->Precision and Snap.)

Also if you prefer more traditional dialogboxes for modeling, uncheck 'Enable caddy control' in Preferences->General->UI display.

Thanx aon for your reply. The spinner snap was disabled.

But meanwhile I have found a solution for this problem:

Windows -> is in German language (the decimal separator is "," comma)

3ds Max -> is in English language (the decimal separator is "." dot)

I change in windows only the separator for the decimal and the digit grouping and now it works as it should.

See the screenshot from the attachment.

Hi;

This is because 3ds Max "knows" the difference with comma "," and a dot "."

If your units displayed as 1,0 (with a comma), do not use a dot "." to enter floating numbers, use a comma.

so in this case, if you hit 1.6 and if it changes this amount to 1,0, try to enter 1,6 instead of 1.6

Regards;
