Smoothing problems

I have a problem with a particular mesh.  When I smooth the mesh, I get this infinity polygon, which goes on forever into the viewport, sometimes maya will crash after smoothing ?

Which versions of maya you use?

first of all upgrade your progame to the latest sp.

If it don't work, could you zip your scense file and uplpad it?

I found a solution, although I'm not going to declare this problem as solved. If it should arise in the future, I will surface this thread again. The solution is to export the object as OBJ then re-import as OBJ. Smoothing then works successfully, without hiccups.
