Smoothing, holding hedges, creasing...

Hi!

 

I have a question about preserve hard edges when you smooth a mesh: as I know, you can do this in two ways:

 

-1: By using the crease tool

I tried this tool, and its good the only problem is that ita cause an orrible normal effect on the mesh (pic n°1).

 

 

-2: By adding edge loops

This is the method I prefer since it does not give that "normal issue", but it gives topology problem in a few cases: For example if I add an edge over here (Pic n°4) the edge will follow the entire sphere and cause an hard edge where I dont want (Pic n°5).

 

 

The crease tool would be perfect in that case, but it cause that issue... 😞

So, can you explain me why the crease tool does that "normal issue"?
