Problem with smoothing

Hello everybody, what exactly does this mean ?

This is not a render problem. Its like there is an invisible triangle splitting the midsection of a poly.

When using nurbs smooth, it makes my model smooth, but about 2x smaller relative to cage (the original unsmoothed model), thus my symmetry has a hole in it at the edge im trying to use symmetry.

Ive tried everything with this, flipping normals, welding vertices, playing about with smoothing. But frankly im at a loss.

Thank you for reading.

Hi. First picture looks like you're having coplanar faces (double faces), and second picture looks like both UVW mapping and smoothing groups are damaged.

You need to clean up your model, remove all doublets and then weld, smooth and UVW map it. From what your describe you also should check if the scale of the model matches the units setup of your file (system and display units should preferably be set equal).

Hope it helps.
