New: how to remove shader

I have an object in Maya 2014 with two shaders on it. "lambert6" and "lambert1". I don't want lambert1 to be connected to this object. How can I remove it from the object? Thank you.

No need to panic!

Do you know about the core nodal workflow in Maya?

The lambert1 is part of the "Initial Shading Group" assigned to every new object in the scene.

Without a material on it it wouldn't be visible!

When you assign a new material to the object the Default Shading Group is replaced by your new material.

If you have a material you want to delete from your model, just open your node editor or hypergraph, choose "Show inpput and output connections" and delete it from there.
