Modeling Toolkit - Symmetrize

I keep getting this error when ever I try to symmetrize my model using Edit > Symmetrize in the modeling toolkit, even though the Symmetry seam is absolutely planar. I snapped all the verts to the center X axis, making sure retain component spacing was unchecked.

// Error: Modeling Toolkit: Could not symmetrize - Symmetry seam is non-planar. //

Symmetrize

When symmetry is enabled, Symmetrize copies the selected mesh topology across the symmetry axis.

To enable symmetry

  1. In your scene, select an edge on your polygon mesh. This edge acts as the line of symmetry, and the mesh topology must be the same on either side of this edge.
  2. In the Modeling Toolkit window, click Symmetry.
TipYou can also select Symmetry from the marking menus (W/E/R + ).

Symmetry is enabled. Any selection you make is highlighted in blue and is applied to both sides of the mesh.

first of all, you should enable symmetry.

Still doesn't work. Must be a bug. I keep getting this error:

// Error: Modeling Toolkit: Could not symmetrize - Symmetry seam is non-planar. //

The seam is planar, symmetry is enabled. I just tried doing it on a default polygon sphere, so there's no way the symmetry seam couldn't be planar.

Hi guys,

Simple solution to your problem.

1) Do not select an edge ring!

2) Just select one edge along the seam

3) Then go to the Modeling Toolkit and click "Symmetry" under the "Preview Loop/Ring".

Hope this helps 🙂

Actually this only works with symmetrical and not "Symmetrize"
Having the same error 😞
