Lock objects like in photoshop?

Hi,

I am a beginner and would like to ask a question on object lock.

In many 2D editignn software like photoshop, one can lock individual objects, or even an entier layer. In 3ds max there is no layer, but is it possible to lock an object so that inadvertent operation would not move, rotate or otherwise modify its properties?

Max certainly does have Layers. If the Layer Toolbar is not visible, rt-click an empty bit of the toolbar and select it.
Yes, you can freeze objects, either individually or by layer (if the objects are set to "by layer"). You can have them display in Grey, or with their material.

F1 is your friend - this is all in the Help.

In Max you can freeze it, also you could freeze an entire layer of objects.

Steve,

I found freeze and the related "show frozen in gray" toggling in object properties useful. Thanks very much!

You're welcome. Do remember that it always pays to check the Help first - followed by searching around here as most questions (though not all, obviously) have been asked, and answered, before.
