Lattice-like shape (not attice deformer) question

Hello:

I am pretty new to maya because I am a former max user. I have a modeling question, this does not have anything to do with the lattice deformer. Is there a way to create a lattice-like shape from polygon edges (or another method although I like working with polygons). Max has a lattice modifier to do this, and I wonder if Maya has a similar tool. I have attached an image of what I mean, and by the way I made the image in photoshop because I don't know how in Maya.

Thanks in advance,

Justin

select all the faces, extrude and use the offset function in the channel editor on the extrude. than just delete the faces u dont need. Or you can make one and use duplicate special 🙂

hope that helps.

Nice solution, and I learned something new, I didn't know about offsetting an extrusion in the channel editor. I would just scale my extrusion before, but this seems more efficient. Similar to "inset polygons" in Max. Thank you.
