How to make the bottom of a bumpy surface flat

Hi,

I got a purple 3d model that's made up of lots of spheres that are all combined into one mesh.

I know there's a way to make the bottom of the model flat by taking another Standard Primitive like a box and some how use it to make the bumpy purple model flat on the bottom.  How do I do this?

Thanks,

if you select the purple object, convert it to a edible poly. then select the vertices at the bottom and then click either x,y or z next to make planer
