hair and Fur : Instance Node / Scale

Im racking my brain trying to figure out why when I use the hair and fur modifier and I instance in a piece of geometry, it normalizes the scale. Does anyone know how to avoid having it do that? The geometry comes in tiny (it's not the scale, cut, random scale, root/tip thickness parameters ..

Did you scale your instance geometry at the object level? That might cause your H&F geometry to come in small if you scaled the instanced geometry up.

Can you zip and post the scene noting which version of Max you're using?
