Please help! I am new to Autodesk 3DS Max.
I created a box using the standard primitives with length=10, width=20, height=20 and segs 32 in all dimensions.
Also, I created a cylinder with radius=7, height=15 and segs 32 in all dimensions.
I aligned the cylinder in the middle of the box so that there is a hole in the box.
I converted both of the shapes into editable polys.
I selected the box and clicked on the boolean in the compound objects panel.
I have the operation "Subtraction (A-B)" selected and I clicked on the cylinder to pick operand B.
When I perform these steps, the cylinder disappeared.
Please see attached the before and after images.
Could you please let me know how I can resolve this problem?
Thank you!

Does the same thing happen if you use Pro Boolean instead? Don't know why this operation failed. I tried to duplicate it in Max 2012 and it worked as expected. Better off using Pro Boolean anyway, if indeed it works for you, because the result (as far as boolean operations go) is a bit cleaner with Pro. The standard boolean is just there at this point as a legacy feature.
I have checked it in 3ds max 2013 and I confirm.
Boolen - cylinder disappears
Proboolen - cylinder stays. So there is no need to clone the cylinder or anything.
