Bevel corner pinching problem

I'm new to Maya and been modeling a dining room set just to get use to the tools and well I keep running into this issue when I bevel edges. As you can see in the image below my bevel seems to pinch in the corner. I can't figure out how to make my bevel more even and consistent on that corner. I'm sure it's something simple I have to do I just don't know what? any idea's? I rather not have to go and adjust each vertex for every bevel I do :(

well an easy one
select the edges and give
soften edges
polygons-normals-soften edge.

if still problem give me rply

No that didn't do it still pinching in the corners. I've played with every setting in the bevel too and no luck either.

ok u just send ur file i will check that
i thought that u are talking about the seam that is coming
but i think ur question is some of the edges at corner are not uniformly distributed.

Yes that's what I'm talking about, how the poly ends are bunching in that corner. It does that on all corners of the model.

How do I send ya the file? It doesn't let me attach it to the post.

there is an option called attach or submit at the bottom left

Ok here it is, I duplicated the model so one has the bevel and one doesn't. If you want to test it just do a select edge loop and bevel it and it should do the same thing as the other model. Hopefully you can tell me whats going on cuz its driving me crazy.

Edit: it never attaches the file evertime I hit attach and submit nothing, sigh.

i will do one thing
i will export this file to 3ds max
and try its bevel.
strange ha even i model new window same problem happened with me

i try on urs file also but the edges were pinching .

this always has been an issue with the bevel tool from maya since I started working with it (maya 6 or 7ish).
as far as I know it was never fixed.

from what I can tell, maya bevels depending on edge topoly instead of doing a bevel along the surface topology (which is what max seems to do).

In some cases, tweaking the edge directions before you bevel can help improve the result. however, most of the time you will have to hand tweak the result.

yes u r right the same thing i told to digitalvengence
pull out the edge and the play with bevel

It's happening to the OP because of the edge topology of his geometry. Depending on the actual surface, rearranging edge flow at the corner should help prevent issues like that.

However edge topology shouldn't have any kind of pinching effect in such a simple geometry, yet it does (a similiar thing happens while extruding a face loop around a sharp angle, the distance of extrusion is calculated along the edge and not the actual surface, which causes irregularities on the actual extruded distance).

It's way overdue for Autodesk to fix the most basic polygon modeling tools.

sorry dear for different replies
now i have made that window again and i have got nice results
its very confusing sometimes the issues are there and sometimes not
and it becomes very difficult to address people
but completely agree to urs above statement
