Exporting actor skeleton

I have optical marker data of a human actor in trc format that I have mapped onto a motion builder actor. How can I get the Actor skeleton into Maya? I want to use it as base for modelling the character. I have tried both importing the Actor FBX into Maya (using FBX 2013 format) and exporting the scene into BVH and importing the BVH into Maya, but neither seem to work.

I noticed the 2014 version of MotionBuilder has an example script solving the problem: Samples/Character/CharacterMarkerSetFromActor.py
