Solids functionality?

I figured out the subtract, and union etc. for solids.
But what if you do something and then later find out you do not want it
subtracted out?

Is there any way to easily "heal" a solid? Or is that were inventor starts
to shine?

Thanks!

Inventor and MDT do it the same way. Both are history based modelers.
The functionality is basically the same (except that MDT can't do parametric surfaces), the user interface is the main difference.

Post your file.
What release of MDT are you using?

Mech_desktop_200x_UserGuide.pdf
23 Chapters, approx. 764 pgs.
You paid for it already.
On your install disk.

Are you using autocad or mdt commands?

Well.... good question.

I am using mdt 2004DX

I am useing extrude, union, intersection, subtract... etc.
I do not know if they are acad or mdt commands....

I attached a file, the block in it has a notch cut out. This is the sort of
thing I would want to be able to undo, or remove the notch / or fill it back
in
easily....

Thanks for your help

Those are AutoCAD commands. You can download a free 30-day trial of AutoCAD 2008.

You might want to go to http://myfeedback.autodesk.com sign up for MDT Beta 2009. Code "Edison" (or was that the code for AutoCAD Mechanical - I can't remember - just search here if that isn't the correct code).

AutoCAD 2009 Beta code "Raptor"
Inventor 2009 Beta code "Tesla"

You can download Inventor LT for free from http://labs.atuodesk.com

Students can download Autodesk Inventor Professional 2008 for free from http://engineersrule.org

Try drawing your profile and using AMPROFILE to make a new part with the
profile then use AMEXTRUDE to extrude it. You can add more profiles to that
part and when using AMEXTRUDE on those profiles you have a choose on what it
will do to the original part. You can go back in the browser tree and edit
the profile/s at any time and use AMUPDATE to update the model.

Can I immediately download those? I went there, and signed up last week.
But how do you download, I don't see the availability to do that?

>What are the mdt commands for solids?

They are usually preceeded by "am" as amextrude.

Before you use the command you must create a sketch.
You then must "profile" the sketch (not required in Inventor).

Your help should list Help>MDT and Help AutoCAD.

Can you post a screen capture of your user interface?

Inventor LT can be downloaded immediately in N. America and Down Under.

Not sure about AutoCAD 2008 30-day trial outside U.S. In U.S. it can be downloaded immediately.

For the Betas you should get an email invitation back and can then download. I think a week is long enough might shoot Shaan Hurley at Autodesk an email. Although this close to the holidays might account for delay.

Bob, In v2006 MDT has a 'Replay' function enabling you to essentially replay the creation of a part. This also allows you to 'truncate' at any stage of the part creation and redo.

I am not sure if this was available in version 2004.
