Scene with perspective view on it

Hello Group,

I created a scene with a perspective view. Went to drawing and
generated a base view using the VIEW mode of the scene, but MDT will not
load the "perspective view", instead loads the ISO view prior to
creating the "perspective" view.

What am I doing wrong? Or is this not allowed? How do I create a
perspective view of the assembly?

Thanks,
Erich Koch

I presume you are talking about a Dview perspective type of view? I don't know
of any way to do it and have it stay thru updates etc. You can use the old
Mview command to make a viewport, and then double click on the viewport, then
enter Hide. I have never tired printing it or anything like that so I am not
sure if it is even good enough for a one time shot.

nope, I just tried making a dwf from it and the hidden lines showed up. Maybe
playing with the plotting hidden line setting or ???

Thanks Kent,

The Dview is what I have been wanting plot. Marketing does not like to see a box
that has the back "looking" wider than the front on the ISO view! And the
perspective Dview solves that, don't understand why Acad does not make that
possible.
Thanks for the information,

Erich

Hi Kent,

Thanks for the information. Just now I tried the DVIEW. MSPACE, PSPACE etc. I was able to plot the perspective view with hidden lines etc. It worked. Thanks. If now I could get to generate a DXF file I would be nice, so it can go into a report, but I don't think the program allows it. Nor I can use the "export view" either! It is all greyed out.

Thanks,
Erich Koch

Kent,
You are on the right track here. Using good old mview command and choose the
hideplot option does the trick.

In addition to hideplot you probably want to set "dispsilh" to 1 so that
the tessellation lines do not show up in the vport. Is this what you are
looking for?

Last time I suggested this I couldn't get it to work right, but I think it
was in MDT5. I know I have used it before, but it has been a long time.
Anyhow, you might try setting up a hpgl plotter and plot to file, then use
the express tools plt2dwg. If nothing else I have a old dos program I
still use occasionally to convert hpgl files to dxf files, but the downside
is it doesn't have the ability to recognize arcs etc and makes circle and
arcs with lots of little lines.

Thanks Kent, I'll give it a try shortly. All of the sudden It became a low priority.

Thanks,
