MDT2008 Radius Dimension Arc Extension Line works poorly in MDT2008!

MDT2008 Radius Dimension Arc Extension Line works poorly in MDT2008!

Is there anyway to turn off the arc extension line added when I dimension a radius? This new ability sounds great, but it produces undesired results when used in MDT2008. It generates a arc extension line with the start point "out in space" from the actual arc, and it always shows a arc extension line even when the dimension is placed on the actual arc.

Please refer to the attached image for an example.

Thanks,

Hi Chris,

Can you post the drawing to us to investigate?

Meanwhile, please try the following steps to turn off the arc extension
line:
1) Select the radial dimension
2) Right mouse click & select "Properties"
3) In the properties palette under "Lines & Arrows", turn "Ext line" to
Off.

I've attached a dwg file that exhibits this behavior. The dwg has both spherical radi dimensioned. You will notice that the dimensions behave differently for each spherical arc segment shown.

"turn "Ext line" to Off...I don't see this option in the properties palette. See attached image.

I've also noted that the radial dimensions behave differently if you use amrefdim (no arc extension lines) vs using ampowerdim (dimensions on the dwg sent to you).

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your input, I am able to reproduce the problem using the sample
you had provided. I will log this issue in our system.

Unfortunately, it looks like there is currently no option available for
turning off the arc extension line. Sorry for the confusion.

Anyone figure out how to turn this beastie off??

Thanks

We are running MDT 2008 SP1 and also have the same issue with a radius dimension.
Turning off the extension line causes the arrow, text, and dim line to go all over the document.
We have contacted our local support team (Avatech Solutions) and they are trying to work out the issue with Autodesk. Avatech and Autodesk can duplicate the problem and have acknowledged that it exists.
I've included a .jpg of a screen capture. A simple cross section of a shelled part. Performing the same operations in MDT 2007, works fine.
It's not our dimension styles either. Same error shows up with the default ANSI template and dim styles.

If anyone has a resolution, please reply.
Anyone from Autodesk.... are you out there ? This really need to be addressed.

I found the easiest remedy for this was to create a new dimension style called 'radius dimension override', which has the extension line turned off.

This is exactly what I am talking about.
When you turn the extension line off, the dimension leader breaks up and goes all over the drawing. Please see the attached JPG.
