How Do I Enable ACTRECORD

when i type in ACTRECORD it says

---
Command: _ACTRECORD
** ACTRECORD command is disabled **
---

Why did autodesk leave this functionality out of MDT '09? (also noticed it was disabled in AcadM too...nothing doing in their NG)

I almost didn't get any sleep last night thinking of the possibilities

Looks like from a web search that is a 2009 option only. Maybe look at
ACTRECORDSTATE

ACTRECORD is a new macro recording thingy available in autocad 2009 (they call it 'Action Recorder')

ACTRECORDSTATE is just a system variable indicating whether the action recorder is idle, is active recording or active playing back.

Guess they didn't want to take the chance of someone writing macros in MDT
and making it better then IV.
You could probably still open standard AutoCAD and use it.

Not sure on this one. Once you record an action it creates a proprietary (read encrypted) file. Maybe when the Object Enablers for 2009 become available so that you can see mdt parts in autocad something might be able to be done. And then you would have to enable the action recorder in MDT in order to run it.

It's a pity that it is not like a real macro recorder that creates editable code

Due to various technical limitations, the ability to create macros with the
Action Recorder is disabled when either Mechanical Desktop or AutoCAD
Mechanical is running. Macro playback works, but macro creation is
disabled. If you need to use the Action Recorder to record vanilla AutoCAD
commands you can do so using the vanilla AutoCAD 2009 profile that comes
with Mechanical Desktop and AutoCAD Mechanical. ACTRECORD will never work
with Mechanical Desktop.

I wouldn't hold my breath. It defintely won't be working in the 2009
release.

I am currently working in the vanilla profile in AutoCAD Mechanical 2009 and am still getting the ***ACTRECORD command is disab;ed***. You mentioned the recorder should work in the vanilla profile, am I leaving a step out?

Thanks,

Type AMVER at the command prompt. If it is a recognized command, then you
still have MDT loading and the action recorder will be blocked.

This is quite perturbing as I was only looking to use the Action Recorder after being told that my macro pauses don't work because of the new action recorder. Now what am I supposed to do?

It appears autodesk broke my macro and, even though I pay more money for AutoCAD Mechanical, I'm not allowed to use the action recorder. I should have paid less to get better features? Am I missing something?
