MDT is a 3d parametric modeler and Mech is a 2d parametric modeler.

I realize I'm replying to a very old post, but if Mechanical Desktop is a 3D parametric modeler, what's the difference between it and Inventor?

MDT is a dead product, INVENTOR is not.

Or did you mean AutoCAD Mechanical, not Dekstop, which is alive and well and still AutocAD-based unlike Inventor https://www.autodesk.com/products/autocad-mechanical/overview
