Jeff,
AMPSCALE is the variable that stores the "Use 1:1 scale in layout" or "Use
Selected Scale in Layout" option.
AMSYMSCALE is the variable that stores the decimal equivalent of what is
entered in the "Layout Scale:" dialog.
Note that AMPSCALE does not change the value of AMSYMSCALE, it just ignores
it.
I have no idea what the "Force usage" option is supposed to do. Acording to
knowledgebase article TS42893, it is supposed to "use standard AutoCAD
behavior for dimensioning", But I havn't noticed any difference with it set
or not set. Also this knowledgebase article refers to MDT 4, and I never
noticed any difference in dimensioning behavior until version 6.
My issue is that MDT6 *always* places a DIMSCALE *override* on reference
dimensions placed in a drawing view. I do not want an override set to 1 or
any other value. I want DIMSCALE to be defined by the dimension style.
There should be no overrides with the exception of DIMLFAC (so the dimension
actually displays the length measured in the model's scale, not the
drawing's scale). As far as I know, this was the way it worked in pre-MDT6
versions.
Anyone who is used to working with dimension styles that have DIMSCALE set
to something other than 1.00 must be having problems with this new behavior.
Maybe I'm the only one. Anyway, this is forcing me to re-think the way I
have been working for the last 10 years and I have (almost) resigned myself
to adapt to the New Order.
