Hi!
MayaLT on Steam freezes randomly when Im modeling. I have tried every possible solutions but noone worked. I tried this http://www.3dbuzz.com/forum/threads/146032-READ-THIS-IF-Maya-crashes-slows-down-or-manipulator-won-t... and the Steam-overlay fix.
What can be wrong?
All other Autodesk softwares works just fine.

Is this hapening on any model or a specific one?
Nice laptop. I want one of those myself!
Well, your computer is more than adequate. Have you tired to delete prefs, restart, and all that jazz?
Yeah, I can for sure recommend the Asus ROG laptops, if you traveling much and want to take the work with you.
Back to the topic, the wierd thing is, that when Im not using Maya, but just keep it open it dosent freeze until I start using it.
I will try to delete the preferenses and see how it goes. I guess you mean this: /Users/beige/Library/Preferences/Autodesk/maya/-x64/prefs/userPrefs.mel ?
If you dont have special settings or custom shelves, you may want to delete the whole directory.
user>documents>maya>2015LT
If you only have shelves, just copy the shelves you created and replace them once you relauch.
Shelves are located here..
user>documents>maya>2015LT>prefs>shelves
Another thing you may wish to try is to go to steam, select MayaLT from the list. Right click > Properties > Local FIles > Verify Integrity and see if anything comes up.
Sorry for late response. 5 files got validated. Maybe it fixed my freezing.
Pease do tell us if it worked. Setting the thread to solved would be nice also so others having a similar problem may find the solution.
I was able to work longer than normal 🙂 But now it freezes when Im trying to save and open a scene. (Maybe that was the bug all the time)
Heres the output window if thats help:
And my test-modeling of this, uhm, thing:
Yes, its the file menu that makes it freeze. Any tips on how that can be solved?
EDIT: Found the solution:
Go to Window > Settings/Preferences > Preferences >
When the preferences window opens then on the left scroll down to Files/Projects
Scroll down to File Dialog
Choose dialog style as "OS native"

EDIT 2: I think actually the problem is fixed. Maybe this happended when I worked in the menus and didnt noticed it.
Hrm, That makes me wonder... Do you use a lot of flash/extrenal drives? Just wondering. Or maybe vpn or network mounted drives? Im really curious as to what is the actual cause, something is making the non-native browser unhappy. Anyhow, thats good news you got it fixed...
I only have one 1TB external drive, but it isnt connected now. Maya havent freezed in a while, so I think the problem is gone 😄
EDIT: Yep, the freezing is gone.
Thanks for all your help Paul and have a nice weekend!
