Maya LT 2015 SP3 Ex2 Crashes upon launch

Hey, folks.

I just upgraded the installation to Maya LT 2015 SP3 Ex2 on Mac OS 10.10.1 (MacBook Pro 15" Mid 2012).

Whenever I launch the application, it now becomes unresponsive at the loading image and produces "Maya LT quit unexpectedly" error.

After the first launch failure, I cleared my launch agent/daemons, caches, and uninstall/reinstalled the application.   Issue persists.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

What version of Maya LT were you using prior to this?

Could you please try clearing your preferences?

Note that the path to the preferences for Maya LT is:

Hey, Christiej!

Thanks for the suggestion.  I have renamed the prefs folder and the issue persists.   I believe I was previously running Maya 2015 LT (without any service packs); I just purchased an annual subscription last week and just now started to dive into it with a new project.

I also just updated the OS to 10.10.2.

Looking forward to getting back into the development process.  Thanks for any future assistance.

Hi,

We have tried reproducing your problem here on a similar machine.  

Note that OSX 10.10.x is not an officially supported platform for Maya LT 2015.  However we were able to install and run without reproducing this issue on both 10.10.1 and 10.10.2.

Would you be able to try re-installing Maya LT 2015 SP3 (Service Pack without extension) to see if the problem persists?

Hey, Christiej.

After multiple failed reinstallation attempts to solve the issue, I ended up reformatting my MacBook Pro and reverted to 10.9 (Mavericks).  I then upgraded to 10.10 (Yosemite) and reinstalled on a fresh OS.  I was able to install Maya LT SP3 Ex2 without any issues.

I could be completely off base, but this indicates to me that there's a file structure somewhere that's being left behind that's causing something crazy to happen when trying to launch the application after an uninstall and reinstall.   To further test this theory, I uninstalled the application, restarted, emptied trash, cleared cache files, restarted, emptied trash and finally reinstalled Maya LT SP3 Ex2.  The same issue occured, which is Maya crashes on the load splash screen.

I have since reformatted the Mac into a Windows bootcamp and running Maya LT without any issues on Windows 7.
