Im getting Geometry errors

Hi everyone

Im getting this geometry issue in maya.

mayaIssue.jpg

Is anyone else getting this?

Im using: Maya 2015

my Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX Titan Black, with 6gb of memory.

Operating System: Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit
System Manufacturer: System manufacturer
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3820 CPU @ 3.60GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.6GHz

Memory: 32768MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 32702MB RAM

If I turn of Maya, then turn it on again and reload the model, the problem dissapears for a while.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give to me, I could really use it

🙂

Looks like the weight is ignored on the skin of those vertices.

Try selecting the vertexes and open the paint skin weights tool and click the 'weight hammer'.

How did this happen anyway?

hi 3DMastermind

it's not just this figure. and its not always repeatable, for instance yesterday it didn't happen all day 😕

It has also happened when I export a figure from another program as an FBX and import the FBX into maya

I see.

In that case, try another Viewport setting from the render menu of the viewport.

If you don't get this during a software render like MR, then it may be a graphics card glitch of some sort.

Perhaps, changing or updating the video card driver may alleviate the issue.

Also,

This may be due to a dirty user preference file.
To remove the preference file:

Exit Maya.
Move the C:\Users\[your_login]\Documents\maya\2015-x64 folder to your desktop.
Launch Maya and try again with the default preference file it will create.

If that works better, you may try to exit Maya and copy over the scripts, shelves and icons
then launch Maya again to regain some of the previous functionality.
