Hello dear all,
I remember when I start using Maya 2016, it has a really cool function is, when you select an object then go to vertices mode...it kinda automatically switch to component mode because I didn't have to worry to accidentally select other object when I want to select the vertices from the object I wanted.
However, Maya changed recently. When I restart my Maya, every time I am in one object;s vertices mode, if I click other object, it will select other object and not stay with the old objetc's vertices mode (component mode)...
Now the solution I did is enter quad draw mode and exist it. Then it will work fine for a while.....and it tends to switch back to the only object mode.
Anyone encounter this? Is there an working around of this?
Any possible suggestion is appreciated...... >_<
I son't know the answer.
But you can try to use hotkey.

Dear tomliangforever,
being annoyed by the same issue I might have found a workaround. You can check it out here, including philosophical discussions on the selection workflow of components:
http://forums.cgsociety.org/archive/index.php?t-862068.html
> Go to Preferences/Selection and check off 'Ignore selection priority'
It is not what we both seem to be looking for, because I remember how Maya used to automatically switch to the component mode when using the RMB menu. But at least you won't be selecting other geometry anymore.
Hope it helps.
Cheers,
David
Hello Dear friends. thanks for all your kindness reply!!!
My work around was first maye a copy of the setting files in "my document" and delete them completely. After that , just adding back things you want except perf files I guess.
My maya in my guess was affected by one of my old maya 2009 file, and it stored some weird setting deep into its hierarchy that I really don't know.
But deleting the setting completely works though.....
I will still look into your solutions and see how it will affect Maya.
Really Thank you two 🙂
Cheers Tom XD
