File size of 3D PDF from Publisher 2011 R1

First off I'll say I know the 3D PDF support is something we should thank Autodesk for as Adobe are poor in this area.  However for my needs it is not a feature I can use.  The reason for this is the file size output is to large!  I can save my large assembly as a STEP file an import into Acrobat Pro Extended giving a file size of about 3mb.  The same assembly in Publisher will create a 3D PDF file size of 70mb.  For me to be able to convince our company to invest in Publisher this will be an issue.  It's a shame as I wish I could as 3D PDF documents are exactly what our company wants to produce.

Is there a reason the file size is so big?  Can I change settings to improve it?

Hi --

Can you send me some files that show the file "bloat"?  It's always best to be working from the same data set.  You can email them to me, or contact me, at jon.balgley@autodesk.com

Thanks.

Was this ever resolved?

I'm having the same problem, with publisher 2012.
