getting active component name with ilogic?

Hi,

I am trying to make use of iLogic for the firs time and struggling a bit.

How can I pass name or path of active component in to a rule?

What I would like to have in the end is a rule that would make a given component or part not visible in all Design Representations.

The thing is I do not know in advance the name of the part or assembly so I cannot (do not want to) put it explicitly in the code.

Idea is that I would like to select part or assembly in a tree and then run the rule so to change visibility state of all occurrences of a given component in all design representations.

And I am stuck at the very beginning not being able to figure out how to pass active component to a rule.

In every online tutorial I saw components are defined explicitly in the rule code.

Cris.

Hi kmeldfreyssinet,

Have a look at this link, I think it will be very close to what you're after (although it uses LOD reps rather than View Reps):

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-general-discussion/insert-part-in-only-one-level-of-detail/m...

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis
