Steps
- Author a tube and pipe component intentionally with a connection point intentionally pointing in the wrong direction
- Publish to the content center
- Start a new assembly and start a new tube and pipe run and route
- Make sure your style includes the newly-published component in the read/write library you’ve authored incorrectly
- Place the component and note the connection point is pointing in the wrong direction when either placing the fitting into a run or using the place component command
- Save the Tube and Pipe assembly
- Place an instance of the component in the assembly outside of the tube and pipe environment from CC
- Open the component and do a save as and close the Tube and Pipe assembly
- Re-author the fitting, change the direction of the connection and save
- Close the file
- Close all files and go to the CC editor
- Navigate to the component RMB, choose “Replace Family Template” and pick the save as file as the new template file
- Repeat steps 5 through 7 and notice the direction (or any other change) is still incorrect and doesn’t honor the re-author
I understand it’s as designed that only a re-publish of the component will work in this situation but it’d save a lot of trouble to simply be able to use the replace family template instead.
