Wish for multiple miter with Frame Generator knots (multi-selection support)

Wish for multiple miter with Frame Generator knots (multi-selection support)

With the attached sample (2014 Beta1), FG did a good job. All miters between the same-sized tubes showed up well. But it's been some work, doing that all.

Why?

- A frame knot with 3 members needs 2+1 = 3 miter actions

- A frame knot with 4 members needs 3+2+1 = 6 miter actions

- A frame knot with 5 members needs 4+3+2+1 = 10 miter actions

- A frame knot with 6 members needs 5+4+3+2+1 = 15 miter actions

Therefore I'd like the ability to cross window select all members of a FG knot, and then doing the needed miter work automatically.

If you have a very large frame it can take some time to trim all the members. I think there should be some way to automate this by a combination of defaults and also icons that could appear (like in sheet metal) at the intersections which you could flip to the solution you desire.

This idea has been implemented within Autodesk Inventor 2019.2. A option to Select Multiple Frame Members is added to the Miter dialog. Enable the option to miter multiple members at the same time. Window selection is also supported. Special thanks to everyone who cast a vote for it.

Thanks to the development team and all 21 voters for implementing.

A first test with window selection of 4 members knot in the Banana sample succeeded well.

But I had no luck with selecting another 4 beams one after another in a first attempt.

Good to see, that I got it with a new attempt.

And I tried some more knots. The whole banana can be mitered in a few minutes.

That's real improvement. I won't comment too much about UI changes ..Smiley Wink

Result: 78 beams were placed and mitered in about 45 minutes.
