Saving a Drawing

Saving a Drawing

I would be great if clicking the save icon in a drawing meant save the drawing in its current state.

Currently when I save a drawing it updates all views on all sheets and then completes the save commend. This is not really required. Before I print the drawing I will insure that all views are up to date.

On large multi page drawings updating some of the views may cause a crash if there are any errors. I could make a bunch of changes to one sheet and Inventor crashes during the save command trying to update a view on a different sheet causing me to lose my changes.

Interesting idea.  So this would be similar to how it is currently possible to save an assembly with pending updates.

Your idea would give more control to the user as to when the updates are performed.

I like this idea.

Another reason Inventor should not update all sheets unless I ask for them to be updated...

Open model and drawing to do some updates... Make some changes to the parts list sorting, all is well. I save the drawing after exiting the parts list. I have been waiting for 35 minutes to save a 10 minute change since IV is updating all sheets. I also need to do a couple of things to the model then I will have to wait another 30 mintues for the drawing to update after those changes.

I am still on the forst sheet of the drawing and an hour has passed. Thanks for making me so productive.
