Nesting for 2D outlines

Nesting for 2D outlines

There is a nesting (layout optimization) functionality in 123D Make. Can you migrate this algorithm to Inventor drawing sheets? Either as an internal function, as a plugin, or as a cloud service.

Many sheetmetal and furniture manufacturers will love it.

As example see

+ G-code.

Having the ability to nest inside of Inventor would be absolutely wonderful, though it would require a lot of work to set up the drivers for the turret / lasers, I suppose that's why they purchased HSMWorks 🙂

I hope to see this incorporated one day!

I would leave the manufacturing part separated (or in CAM) - even plain "geometrical" nesting would help in most cases. There are ways how to get the resulting 2D drawing to manufacturing...

yes please, make a nesting application for Inventor, integrated with a file manager so that nests can be rebuilt quickly with different parts, and saved out as different nests, and also managed by the vault.

I vote for this idea!

Seems to arrive soon! (with TruNest, see AU2017)

When exactly?
