Manage Content Center location from the project file

We already can define templates location, Content Center files location, data conception location in the project file.

It could be very useful to also define libraries location from the project file : each file could have its own libraries, depending of the project, not the Inventor.

Each project can have it's own libraries already. Yes, they would all be in the same location. But you choose which ones are available in the project file anyway.

This is a simple suggestion, but can we have the project file manage the location of the Content center library instead of having it under Application Options?

This way you could make a "Work from Home.ipj" project that will have a path to the templates, design data, and CONTENT CENTER.  When at work they could have a "AT Work.ipj" that links them to the networked templates, design data and Vault Content Center.

That way the user doesn't have to constally swap back and forth when moving from in office to out of office working.

@ThomasSwanson, fortunately this is already possible Smiley Happy You can specify if a Project should use the default Application Options location for Content Center files, or a user-specified folder path. You can change this setting in the Projects editor by clicking on the Project, expanding the "Folder Options" node, and changing the "Content Center Files" location from "[Default]" (i.e. driven by Application Options) to any folder path of your choosing.

Of course, you can't change this setting on the Active project, so if you can't right-click and edit this setting, simply double-click a different project to make it Active and then click on your desired Project again and change its "Content Center Files" location.

Hope this helps!

@DRoam

Little late on this reply.   What you are talking about changing is the location of the created content center files.   I am talking about changing the location of the Content center Library files.    Currently this is under the Tools / Application Options/ Content center

If this path were to be added to the Project file when a user would take their laptop home and loose connection to the Vault Content center library the could just switch to a work from home project file that would point them to a copy of the Content Center Library that was stored local on their machine.

Or if you were doing contract work you could have a completely different setup just by switching the project file.  Different, templates, design data. working folder and content center library.

I realize that this would require keeping the content center library up to date between the Vaulted and Local copies, but if it was done it would make for a better user experience.
