It would be very useful to be able to lock levels of detail in the same manner as design view representation. We have Revit and Inventor being used for the design of a new plant and the equipment going into it and use Navisworks to view all of the design information in one place i.e. pulling in both the Revit model and Inventor models.
We currently export the Revit data as sat files so that they can be brought into inventor for reference whilst building up the Inventor designs but this imported data doesn't go back into Navis as it comes from Revit which is the current building design; the sat files are only exported once a week.
We use a specific LOD on assembly models to suppress the imported building information and this is the LOD which is taken into Navisworks. The problem we have is users open from vault a model and ignore the LOD which is active when opened. If they need to see the building information they un-suppress it rather than changing LOD to one which has it un-suppressed anyway. They will work on the model and check it back into vault with the building information un-suppressed which then causes issues when it is brought back into Navis. I know this issue is caused by users not looking what level of detail is active when they open a model but it would be extremely useful to be able to lock LOD's as this would at least inform the user that changes to the LOD would not be saved and this may prompt them to change LOD rather than un-lock it.
The same can be a problem when a specific LOD is used as the basis for drawing views.
Is this possible to achieve??
