I few things to improved our dimensioning "experience" in Inventor and increase productivity
With the Dimension feature I'd like to...
- pick the extension line of an existing dimension to go into continuous / chain dimensioning. Not a Chain Set, just a quick way to get into the Chain mode.
- pick the extension line of an existing dimension, right-click, select baseline, pick the additional edges, right-click continue and place the baseline dimensions (not a baseline set)
- "Break Up" / "Move Away" dimension overdrawn functionallity like in AutoCAD Mechanical. Place a dimension over an existing dimension and be prompted what to do with the overlap... Replace - Break Up - Move away
AutoCAD Mechanical does a lot of "nice" things with dimensions. Take for example if I create three seperate dimensions in a baseline like configuration. If I power erase the middle one ACM will pull the outside dimension, moving it to the next location within the baseline... all without these dimensions created with the baseline option!
