Easy end caps in frame generator

Add a functionality to create end caps very quickly for frames from generator.

Are you talking about caps for open tube steel? Yeah, I'd love to see that feature.

Indeed, that would be nice.

Haven't gotten around to it yet, but have been thinking about creating an iPart or iLogic-driven part of some sort to do this.  A built-in solution would be great, especially if it had the ability to automatically change the cap plate to match when the tube size changes.

Would result in a square plate placed based upon selection of the end of a member (toggle for adding plate to end of, or trimming of member)

This function is required. I come from a solidworks background and used it all the time. I strongly suggest adding this feature, if you need help, go to http://help.solidworks.com/2013/English/SolidWorks/sldworks/c_Weldments_End_Caps.htm?id=cd23f257ca8a...

This function should support and/or incorporate trim/extend and related workflows (miter)

there should be a capping feature for frames made in frame generator to quickly allow you to cap ends.

i dont mean to stick salt on the wound but i think Inventor could learn alot from SWX and the way they deal with their frame generation.. it shouldnt take longer to model and print a small model than it takes to actually build it.

just cause it can do anything doesnt mean that the user should have to do everything!

this message was not meant to be trolling but a comment response to the above post

I've been using solidworks for the last couple of years now, but still prefer using inventor but due to inventor not having the end cap feature. My line manager has no other option than to use solidworks, because our company builds hollow section frame structures. I've also seen this feature has been requested many times dating back from 2010 that I can see on the net.

This was accepted over 3 years ago and still not implemented!!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!

Like seriously, this is not a difficult feature to add, it can't possibly take this long to implement!!!

Get your act together Autodesk!!!!!!!

I see this idea being accepted but I'm now using 2016 and still not implemented..ridiculous.

And now it's 2017. Any idea as to if and when this may be implemented and released? I too use SolidWorks and Inventor. They both excel and have issues in different areas. End caps sure would be nice as they are quite common. Their absence in Inventor is a design hinderance.

To anyone senior at Autodesk who can get things implemented in Inventor updates,

Its about time this is implemented.

I am a gun at this package (Inventor) but things like this get extremely annoying when it still cost me time to model end caps in Frame generator. It should by now be auto generated in frame generator.

Crappo. 😞

And here we are 2019, still with no end cap feature in Inventor?
