Dynamo for Inventor

Dynamo for Inventor

It would be really great to have Dynamo integrated in Inventor, in a similar way that now is integrated in Revit

Dynamo is being developed very fast. And from last year they have totally reorganized it to allow to be hosted in different platforms.

Its internal solid engine is similar to the Inventor one. And If you are used to create solid or surface geometry in Inventor you will be familiar very soon with its methods for solid and surface geometry. Indeed, the Inventor part environment seems a rather convenient platform for Dynamo as pure geometrical exploration tool.

There are already some personal efforts to integrate Dynamo in Inventor:

https://github.com/frankfralick/DynamoInventor

Because you can use Dynamo as a standalone app and import/export sat files, you can currently manage somehow to use Dynamo complementary to Inventor. You can read here (at the end) about a specific sample of this workflow:

http://dynamobim.com/intersecting-rails/

But obviously this way of working is never going to be as convenient as having Dynamo hosted in Inventor.

I could make use of a Dynamo for Inventor right now!

I would love to see Autodesk put some recourses into developing DynVentor 😉

I love the idea

Seems like pretty low hanging fruit with super powerful workflow upside.  In our studio we work with AutoCAD, 3ds, Revit, Inventor and a dash of Rhino.  Dynamo could serve as a great go between from design concept to fabrication, thereby augmenting our not always seemless Autodesk workflow.

I'd love to get our whole team using Dynamo, but just keeping our Autodesk products up to date is hard enough.  Kudos to Frank for his efforts, but need a more seemless Dynamo/Revit-like relation for Inventor.

Thanks.

I will become critical for dynamo fo inventor to be realized as dynamo for revit become more readily accepted on real projects, if nothing more thna to help create the shop drawings for the unique parts. It would also really be interesting to see how the complex geometry can be handled using dynamo, inventor and revit together. also early development of geometry would be easier in inventor without the constraints of the revit family/form types

This seems like a really logical interoperability, next step for Autodesk. I really hope they see that this could be a massively crucial key for bringing the AEC>MFG gap even closer.

Hello,

We'd like to get a better understanding of your specific workflow needs for using Dynamo within Inventor. If you're willing to share your needs, please respond to me at sanjay.ramaswamy@autodesk.com.

thanks,

Hi All,

I've been trying to revive Frank's code over the past few months. If anyone feels interested in contributing/dicussing this effort i've added resources/task/developments to a trello board and a slack channel which are posted on the DynamoInventor github wiki: https://github.com/frankfralick/DynamoInventor/wiki

A lot of structural Engineers could make use of this functionality. Revit doesn't have the LOD necessary to manufacture the cladding or roofing structures but Inventor can't output BIM compliant revit families. Being able to drive Inventor and Revit from the same Dynamo code would mean that the creation of the geometry of the Revit model and the Inventor model would be identical erroding the barrier between Revit & Invnetor a little bit more and reducing errors between the two models. Also being able to drive complex surface creation in Inventor would be a great way to combat Rino + Grasshopper and would give Inventor another competitive edge.

Been trying to , not much help from the inventor dev team. but i've tracked all the resources and progress on a trello board here:https://trello.com/b/GLGD4JC5/dynamo-inventor-scrum.  if you know anyone interested / capable of helping have them contact me. there is also a slack team for this development: https://dynamoinventor.slack.com

Another vote for Dynamo in Inventor. Product design and (generative) assemblies will benefit a lot and Inventor will have a competitive edge against Rhino on one market segment and SolidWorks on another one.

Dynventor package.png

Hello!
I recommend to download this package for Dynamo Studio. With this package, you can try to write some useful programs. I'm still at the beginning of the path and I plan to expand the library of nodes. Remember that before using this package you need to install AddIn for the Autodesk Inventor.

A great idea, it would be very good. You have my support for this idea.

it is undervoted because this is still a new / unknown concept for designers. But it is a breakthrow. Autodesk must Pedal it for it's own good.

Hope it gets implemented.

Good evening

Can someone please teach us how to install Dynamo for inventor 2021 or higher

Thank you
