Constraints on work features

Constraints on work features

Please add the functionality where you can constraint sketches (lines, arcs, etc) to work features such as planes or axis. That would be really usefull and a fundamental function of a CAD system. Thanks!

You can use "Include Geometry" to pull work features into your sketch, and then costrain to them.

Hello Cbenner,

Thanks for the response. That works but can it be improved where there project geometry automatically does it for you when you put constrain to work planes? It is a bit troublesome to do an additional step just to place constraints.

The point is, it should not require an extra step to do this.

again yet another inexplicable inability of Inventor.

They would serve themselves well if they looked at the functionality of the leading 3D CAD modeling software and emulated much of it.

This like many other inabilitities makes theis software cumbersome and slow.

If you use "Include Geometry" on work features in the template file, it will always be possible to constrain sketch features to work features in a new ipt sketch.
