Update Drawing - word wrapping in table header

An improvement to the table setting in Inventor drawings would be the ability for the heading in tables to word wrap.

I agree.  I've had to fake the header text wrap by disabling the header row and using the first data row as a psuedo header.  It would be better if header rows just supported word wrapping.

I'm, right now, trying to do as dmiller says but I'm also trying to use Units Formatting so I've got a column called Incompatible Units Error now.

It would be very welcome if you could look at the components / modules in the browser if they still have freedom or not. Comparable to the browser display "Fixed"

I used DWG template and jumped over to autocad the settings were similar and as restrictive.

in the end i drew the table out in autocad then jumped back into inventor.

dmiller has the best way in hindsight. just drop the header and use the firt row as header as the cells use text wrap

I don't really understand the hold up with this... They've had complaints about table headers not wrapping since 2009 (Just Google the issue).  It really can't be that tough to program right?!?!? I mean the other cells wrap just fine!

I agree with other posters.  It bothers me that a "feature" like this can't get addressed in a reasonable time frame.  It should have been there from the beginning.

It’s now 10-16-2015, over 6 years since this issue was a suggestion and was accepted over 3 years ago.  NASA's talking about sending an industrial 3D printer to Mars to begin constructing structures for future colonies. Any idea when Autodesk is going to implement text wrapping capabilities in table headers? This is embarrassing, I mean come on!

Whichever programmer was assigned “column header text wrapping” step away from the water cooler and GET BACK TO WORK!!!

As said previously, it makes tables look unprofessional and scruffy.

A text wrap feature would be greatly appreciated instead of a "work arround"

This idea has been implemented within Autodesk Inventor 2017. Column headings wrap to a minimum width to accommodate the largest word in the column. Table headings wrap to the minimum width of the included columns. The enhancement is available within all table types (parts lists, hole tables, generic tables, revision tables, etc.).  Special thanks to everyone who cast a vote for it.

Please add the ability to wrap text in column headers.  

For example, in Excel you can use the combination of increasing the row height and then use wrap text to decrease the size of the table (making it easier to read as well as removing tons of dead space).

Automatic Text Wrapping in Title and Column Headings in Drawing Tables

The General, Part Lists, Hole, or Revision tables in drawings, columns, and headings now support automatic text wrapping. Column headings wrap to a minimum width to accommodate the largest word in the column. Table headings wrap to the minimum width of the included columns.

Tip: Legacy drawings, when first opened, continue with the legacy behavior. To change a table to include the new functionality, open the Edit Table dialog box and click OK to allow for text wrapping.
