There is a rule in Inventor that lets you create an internal M10x1.5 tolerance 6H on a surface between 8.376 and 10.396 mm. If I go outside those values I can't create that specific thread. Somewhere Inventor reads the values in column O and column T in the thread.xls and sets those values as minimum and maximum allowed values for the specific M10 thread I have chosen. If I go outside those values I canāt create this particular thread. I regard it as an error because Inventor should only let me add the thread if the value of the surface is between 8.376 and 8.676, that is column O and P in the thread.xls.
Of course this is not an issue if you create a threaded hole in one feature, but if you have a surface, perhaps imported geometri, it might turn up. Attached you will find an extreme result of this faulty rule (in my opinion).
I have had contact with Autodesk Support but the answer is that it's not a fault in Inventor and that Inventor always has done in this way.
If someone has an idea to build your own thread specification to get away from this problem, please tell me about it.
I havn't tried this on inch threads at all or on exteranal surfaces either.
