A way to know if everything is ballooned...

A way to know if everything is ballooned...

It would be nice to have a way to know when everything is balloon on a parts list, or what is missing.   Almost a counter like needed constraints ...something.

Currently I use an Ilogic code, but it would be nice if there was a way to see what was needed still. To see it now without ilogic you have to open the parts list and look at the missing balloon icon

100% agree on this Michael.  I've posted on the main discussion page regarding this, and hopefully this issue has Johnson Shiue's attention, as I think there needs to be a tool (namely a floating part list window) that checks off each part as you balloon your drawing.  The floating parts list would update spontaneously as you add your balloons.

My reply to Johnson Shiue on the Inventor main BB:

Johnson, thanks for replying to my issue.

Yes, that's my issue when ballooning. I have a machine with 200+ different parts on it, some duplicates & some unique. After I balloon all of the obvious and easy parts in the views I have on my drawing, there's always a handful at the end that I have to go back and forth with by opening and closing the parts list to see which items have the balloon icon there, and which ones don't.

It's very tedious, and a bit frustrating, when I have to go in and out of the parts list dialogue to see what items remained "unballooned".

Michael's ilogic rule, as well as niels suggestion are both good alternatives, but a floating parts list while you're ballooning would be great, especially if it would add the balloon symbols in the parts list column as you balloon your items.

I agree with @morrisangelo -- a floating (i.e. non-modal) parts list showing balloon indicators.  There may even be more sophisticated functions that could be performed with it, such as highlighting components as the user mouses over; dragging a part from the list into the drawing area turns into a balloon that may be dropped on any highlighted edge in any view, or attached to an existing balloon... keep dreaming, folks!

A floating "ballooning box" would be nice.

If it could be customizable, so you can choose what columns to show just like a partslist, and would show the amount of instances for a particular balloon together with sbixler's idea's, this would be a great tool!

How about adding an additional Parts List filter, so that only un-ballooned items show up on the Parts List the exact opposite of: Ballooned Items Only?

I just thought about creating this idea this morning, as I was "ballooning" a large assembly. Good thing I didn't.

Would an "Invert" check box be helpful to invert whatever filter is active?

bump .... see if we can get some more support for this ..

At my last company the customer needed the Assembly parts list on an excel spreadsheet so I wrote an AddIn that first exported the reformatted Bill of Materials from the Assembly to an Excel spreadsheet. Then once the drawing was open the tool was run a second time with conditional formatting applied to the spreadsheet where items hadn't been ballooned.

So yes, the ability to show this data without resorting to using the API would be most-appreciated.

Voted up so I'll also bump it up!

A useful column in the Parts List dialog box would be the number of Items ballooned currently. When an ITEM has a QTY greater than one it is impossible to tell if all ITEMs have been ballooned. So this value could be placed next to the balloon indication.

PTC Creo has option to balloon non-ballooned components. Select "non ballooned components" option and Creo will place balloons on all non-ballooned components. Then you can move balloons which are pointing to non-visible line to other view.
